Example
Take the sequence 5, 8, 11, 14, ... . The first term is 5 and the common difference is 3. The tenth term is 5 + (10 β 1) Γ 3 = 32.
Positive and Negative Differences
A positive common difference makes the sequence increase, while a negative difference makes it decrease. A difference of zero produces a constant sequence in which every term is the same.
